This external RFID card reader is most often used in conjunction with an access and attendance system. The reader uses wireless RFID technology operating at a frequency of 125 kHz, allowing a range of up to 8 cm.
The Idesco Access 7A Reader is embedded in a plastic box that is suitable for placement on a desk or other horizontal surface. An external power adapter is also supplied to power an external card reader.

The reader is connected via the RS232 interface using the configuration shown in the table below. The reader can be tested with any RS232 terminal (such as HyperTerminal in Windows). After attaching the RFID card on reader, it should write an identification number in the terminal card.
